29/6/2015 KS3 Visit to BushcraftOn the 20th May, Years 7, 8 and 9 all went on a trip to Bushcraft, an outdoor experience which allowed the students to get a feel of what surviving in the outdoors was like. The students were told to take a diary to write what they did on each day, one Year 7 student wrote an account of what they did: Day 1
On day one, we took a coach to Bushcraft, which was at Cholmondelely castle, we met our camp leader and we started our day activities; there were lots of them! The first thing that we did was learn how to start our own fires, which we cooked our lunch on, we had lamb kebabs (they were delicious!) After that, we made our own shelters which were very warm and comfortable, and we actually slept in them that night! Day 2 We all woke up bright and early on day two, and went straight into our morning activities. On this day, we split up into our tribes and each made a dance, song or chant and we used camouflage paint to camouflage ourselves. After lunch we went on a nature walk and then had dinner, played a few games of predator, in which the aim of the game is to hide in the forest and avoid being caught by the person who was 'it'. After that, we slept in our tents for the night. Day 3 Today was our last day at Bushcraft, we learned how to make survival bracelets and how to make wooden pegs. After lunch we learned a few first aid tricks and put our skills over the days to the test by rescuing our tribe leaders from the forest. After that, it was time to go back to school. Overall it was a really good experience. One of my friends, Abby Ward, said "I had an amazing time at Bushcraft and if I got the chance, I would definitely do it again" Comments are closed.
