Over the last few weeks, all forms in Year 7 have been taking part in a Cricket tournament that is being run by Mr Warrilow and a group of Year 10s. Each form has been playing each other, and all have the chance to get to the final, which will take place on the last week before Easter. At the moment the competition is a very closely-fought thing and it is anybody’s guess who is going to win.
There have been many great performances from both teams and players including one excellent performance by 7SAL who won by 52 runs in their last game; the biggest win of the competition so far. With over 70 students having taken part, the competition has been a huge success in introducing new people to the sport. It is hoped that it will inspire them to take up the sport, whether for a club, or just simply playing for the school team or just for the fun of it. Who knows, you could be the next England cricketing star? Let’s face it, we need all the help we can get at the moment. For anybody who has been inspired to do this, there are training sessions for both Year 7s and 8s on Tuesdays after school, with a coach from Staffordshire Cricket and help again from Year 10s. If you require more information, you can go to Mr Warrilow for more information. By Jordan Talbot Y10
